Common questions about confidential digital assets and how Ryle provides the infrastructure to issue and operate them.
What are confidential digital assets?
Confidential digital assets are onchain assets whose balances and transaction amounts are encrypted but remain cryptographically verifiable. They let companies use public-chain settlement without exposing treasury, counterparties, or transaction history. See what are confidential digital assets.
What is Ryle?
Ryle is confidential digital asset infrastructure — a platform companies use to issue, manage, and operate confidential assets through a Console for operators and APIs for engineers, while Ryle abstracts the underlying confidential network.
What is selective disclosure?
Selective disclosure is the ability to reveal specific confidential activity to a chosen party (auditor, regulator, or counterparty) through a scoped, time-bounded, logged view, without making it public. See selective disclosure.
Are confidential digital assets compliant?
Yes. They are private by default but disclosable by policy: issuers can prove reserves and reveal specific activity to regulators and auditors on demand, while every disclosure is logged. See are confidential digital assets compliant? and how they map to regulatory frameworks.
How are confidential assets different from privacy coins?
Privacy coins aim for blanket anonymity. Confidential digital assets are built for regulated business: private by default, but controllable, auditable, and disclosable by policy. See the full breakdown in confidential assets vs privacy coins.
How do confidential assets stay verifiable if balances are encrypted?
Each transaction carries a zero-knowledge proof that the rules were followed — sufficient balance, conserved supply — so the network verifies validity without seeing the amounts. See how confidential assets work.
What chains do confidential assets settle on?
EVM-compatible chains such as Ethereum, Polygon, Base, Arc, Plasma, and Tempo. The chain target is a per-deployment configuration choice.
Does Ryle custody funds?
No. Ryle is not a custodian. Partners connect a custody solution they already operate, and Ryle binds the asset to it.
Can I add confidentiality to an asset I already issue?
Yes. Ryle supports a brand-new confidential asset, a confidential layer on an asset you already issue, or confidentiality on a third-party asset — all behind the same API.
Who can see an account’s balance?
By default, no one but the holder. Operators see aggregate health, not individual balances; external visibility requires an explicit, logged selective disclosure.
